Kitchen Back Splash

About a week and a half ago Steve and I finally found some time to get the back splash tiled (Steve let me set most of the tile), our kitchen is more or less finally done except for some touch up painting and trim work. We are really happy with the way it has turned out. I really enjoy doing projects like this.

Summer Time Fun

We have had a wonderful summer this year. Here are a few photos. Being with cousins, Riverton 4th of July carnival, family camping over July 24th, Steve's birthday, Aby's birthday, Lainey's birthday, going camping at Great Basin National Forest and touring Lemans Caves. We love being with family and I'm sure I missed something but this will have to do.

COUNTER TOPS

The counter tops are now finished, it was a messy job and Steve did most of the work, what a man!!! Steve took Friday off so that we could get it finished. I did take some turns to give him a break but my arms and back are not as strong as his.

After we finished doing the wet polish Friday we did an acid wash, the color I chose is called Walnut, it's a dark brown with a little color variation.

Saturday I put three coats of sealer on it and we put the faucet on the sink, hooray!!! We love the way it turned out, but this is a thing you only try once.

OUR LATE NIGHT FUN

Friday night Steve and I stayed up late and got the rest of our concrete counter tops poured, I won't have a kitchen sink now for 2 weeks while the concrete cures. After that we will start with polishing stage, followed by acid washing and sealing. Then on Saturday Steve took down the over the range microwave along with the surrounding cabinets and starting installing the new range hood and we brought in the new range (double ovens, hooray)! Now if I could just get the painting done.

THE CONTINUING STORY OF OUR KITCHEN

Well as you can see I put these pictures in backwards. The pantry is done, we've demoed the old tile and replaced it with one that I really like much better. We then re-arranged the cabinets and made an island. I've taken all the doors and drawer fronts off the cabinets and am getting ready to paint them and tonight we poured the concrete countertop for the island. I LOVE DIY!!!

The Zoo

We took the girls to Hogle Zoo last week. They love seeing all of the animals, although sometimes I wonder who is more wild, the animals at the zoo, or our three girls!

The Kitchen Remodel Continues

Here are some more photos of our continuing kitchen remodel. Steve has gotten everything framed and the dry wall is up. I did help some but he's the one with all the talent.

Kitchen Remodel

Here are some pictures of the start of our kitchen remodel. As you can see we have taken out the corner pantry (which I hated) and we have moved the wall between the kitchen and the living room making the kitchen bigger and the living room will be more of a small sitting room (the clean room in the house when someone comes over that you aren't expecting). I'll post more pictures as we go along.

Olivia's 1st Grade Program

This is Olivia singing in her first grade program she is in the purple shirt in the upper left corner. She is making great strides in school. This is the first time she has done more than just sit, so we are proud of her. This song is just perfect for our family.

House In Caos

Well we are finally remodeling our kitchen. So far we've moved the wall in between the kitchen and the living room, expanding the kitchen 2 feet and we have now framed in the new pantry. I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

TAKING A TRIP

I just got back from visiting Jane and her family last week. I went out to help her while Tom was gone to a conference. We had a great time, while I was there we celebrated Reili's birthday. I made her a watch (which Aby requested I do to match hers), you can see her showing it in one of the pictures. Jane sure has her hands full with this new baby and keeping track of everything else. Elizabeth is a beautiful baby and I loved being there and just holding her so that Jane could get other things done. I still don't think she got everything done that she wanted, but I hope I was able to help a little.

Reili, Amberly, Wesley and now Elizabeth are so cute and fun!!

JANUARY

Where did it go!!! Even though my Birthday was in January along with 2 of my brothers I didn't get anything posted. Sorry

CHRISTMAS DAY

After our regular fun morning at home opening gifts we went to Stephen's parents home. We enjoyed visiting with family (Shauna, James and Alex) playing and good food (Stephen's mom is a great cook).

CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve we spent with Lenore's family, the kids re-enacted the nativity while Grandpa read out of the scriptures. This is one of Lenore's favorite events during Christmas even though her extended family keeps getting bigger and bigger. We love being with all of them.

ICE SKATING

We took Kathy and the kids ice skating after we returned from California. Samatha, Joseph, Aby, Olivia and Lainey. And you can see Kathy trying to keep up with Sarah.

DECEMBER IS ALWAYS BUSY

The week before Christmas Lenore and Aby flew down to California to help Lenore's sister Kathy travel back to Utah for the holidays. While we were there we spent one day at Disneyland. As you can see we had a blast.
